Special petition procedures for candidates to qualify for the election of directors to the Board
Under the existing bylaws, any property owner in good standing may run for a seat on the Board of Directors by submitting a petition to the office by the required date, signed by 10 members in good standing (1 signature per deeded property).
Due to the present exceptional circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic requiring social distancing and sheltering in place, physically obtaining hand signatures will be difficult if not impossible in many cases. Therefore, for the election scheduled July 11, 2020 only, the following modified rules are in effect:
Paper Signatures (regular process): The candidate shall file with the office by the required date the official petition properly executed and signed by 10 members in good standing. The office will then verify that a minimum of 10 members in good standing have signed the form. The petition form may be found at www.masthope.org.
Signatures via email (electronic process): The candidate shall file electronically with the office the properly executed official petition without signatures. The candidate shall then contact individual members requesting their support by having them send an email with the following endorsement to the office, at email@example.com follows:
I, <full name of property owner>, owner of <Lot number>, do hereby endorse <full name of candidate> as a candidate for the Board of Directors election to be held at the July 11, 2020 General Membership Meeting.
The office will then verify that the member is in good standing, and attach the endorsement to each proper petition. Candidates will still be responsible to have 10 endorsements received by the required date.
The petition, meeting the standards in either #1 or #2 stated above must be received by the office or via email to firstname.lastname@example.org 5:00 p.m. on May 15, 2020.
