BOD UPDATE 5/12/20
May 12, 2020
We hope this finds you well. Changes to COVID-19 protocols are happening on a daily basis, and the Board and Management react as quickly as possible while always considering your welfare. The governor’s office has mandated limits to how we do business and is now starting to remove some restrictions. With each restriction removal, we are reminded that if we do not continue to social distance and follow best practices, restrictions may be re-imposed. Additional counties have been opening each week, typically the announcements are done on Fridays announcing openings to come the following week.
Where are we today: Pike County remains in the red status, the highest level of restrictions. Recently, the governor has permitted construction to resume, marinas to reopen, liquor stores have reopened for curbside business, golf courses reopened, campgrounds reopen, and state parks will reopen. With all these openings come restrictions.
Where do we go from red? The next phase is yellow. In the yellow phase, some restrictions on work and social interaction remain, but others are lifted.
"The purpose of this phase is to begin to power back up the economy while keeping a close eye on the public health data to ensure the spread of disease remains contained to the greatest extent possible," according to the governor's plan.
In the yellow phase, stay-at-home orders will be lifted, but large gatherings of 25 or more people will be prohibited. Retail stores may reopen, but with curbside service and delivery the preferred methods of operation. Gyms, spas, and entertainment venues like theaters and casinos will remain closed during the yellow phase. Restaurants will still be limited to carry out or delivery. Please remember that Pike County and therefore Masthope are still in red, but this should give you an idea of what to expect when we are moved to yellow status.
We continue to work on a reopening plan for the beach and pool, that plan cannot be done without additional guidance from the governor and all agencies. The only thing we can guarantee is this summer will not be normal, and we must all work together and make the best of the hand we have been dealt.
The office is opening this week by appointment or availability only; please call them at 570 685 4790 to make arrangements. We do anticipate opening the market to semi-normal operation in the next couple of weeks. The fitness center has begun working virtually, Cathy recently introduced Annette who will be taking over as manager. Please follow them on Facebook, they will be offering a variety of different fitness programs. Laura and crew are taking care of our livestock, bringing in additional horses in anticipation of opening when permitted. The Summit continues to provide great food for takeout, watch for their weekly specials and family meals. Thank you for supporting our great staff, they look forward to seeing you soon.
When you visit the Mountain please follow social distancing guidelines and self-isolate for 14 days, no one wants to be the person who brings a COVID outbreak to Masthope. Stay safe and healthy.
