BOD UPDATE AS OF 5/19/20
BOD Update 5-19
We hope this message finds you well.
Memorial Day is quickly approaching. While this is normally a time to celebrate, Pike County remains in phase red of the Governor’s stay at home order. This past week, Pike did not meet the criteria for moving to the yellow phase which would have given us the opportunity to phase open into business and recreational activities. We understand the frustration that sets in when other states and counties begin to open while we cannot. We must be patient. Our obligation is to avoid putting the community at a health risk and follow orders as they come from the Governor. Failure to do so could put the community at risk with insurance coverage and have a possible negative impact on any state permits such as our food service permits and liquor license.
We do anticipate many families will be up at Masthope for the holiday weekend – the weather looks promising with highs in the mid to high 70s. Keep in mind that the 14-day self-quarantining rules are still in effect if you arrive from other areas. With the amenities closed, it may be time to get back to practice social distancing while enjoying nature, take a hike, go for a float ride on the river or relax on your porch in the sun. The ski area is a great walk, see it without snow. Even if you “cheat” and have someone pick you up at the bottom it is a beautiful walk and great exercise.
For those who cannot live without ice cream, the beach house will be open with a limited menu of ice cream, snacks, hamburgers, hot dogs, and some fried foods. There will be nothing healthy, it is a holiday weekend, live it up. All items are take-out only, no table seating will be provided.
The boat launch and river access are open. In order to operate safely, we need your cooperation, there can be no congregations of people at the launch site or parking lots. Please respect our neighbors, do not wander off Masthope property.
The May Board of Directors Meeting is Saturday morning beginning at 8:30, it will once again be a virtual meeting. All meeting information will be posted at Masthope.org. There will be property owners’ time for your questions. If you would like to pose questions prior to the meeting you may do so at email@example.com.
Please stay healthy and remember when you do travel to Masthope, a 14-day self-quarantine will protect yourself and your friends.
