Masthope Update 6/10/20
Board of Directors Update 6-9
We hope this update finds you well.
This past Sunday, the Rental Committee hosted a town hall meeting to discuss the proposed new Rental Policy. The meeting was attended by more than 350 property owners, during the question and answer period more than 50 members asked questions or made statements. The Committee answered questions and provided additional information and data to demonstrate how the policy was developed, and why new concepts were introduced. There is a frequently asked questions (FAQ) sheet posted on the community website, we suggest you review that document.
The policy is under review by the Board of Directors. Comments – pro and con – made during the town hall will be considered as well as any possible changes from the Rental Committee. If approved, the Board will determine a future date for the implementation of the policy.
Monday evening, a Special Meeting of the Board was held to discuss and consider the health, welfare and safety of property owners and staff when it comes to admission to the lake and pool amenities for this coming summer. Due to the Governors orders for the Green Phase of the Pennsylvania reopen plan, which include a maximum gathering of 250 people with proper social distancing, it is necessary to create an admittance plan providing protection for the health, welfare and safety of our members and staff. After reviewing attendance records from this past summer, the Board determined it was in the best interest of members and staff to not permit property owner guests and renters for less than 30 days to access the lake and pool facilities this summer.
But even allowing just members to access these amenities could lead to overcrowding given our limited COVID capacity. To allow member access, the lake and pool will be operated in shifts, at the end of each shift the area will be cleared to allow for cleaning and the next group to enter. This policy has been tried out at the pool already and will go into effect at the beach on June 26th. Constant monitoring of attendance and compliance will be done and may be modified by the Board of Directors as the situation dictates.
We understand these changes will inconvenience many. These measures were chosen in consideration of fairness to all members. During these difficult times we must work together to assure Masthope continues to be the great community we all love.
Finally, a reminder that masks are a must when you visit any facility on the mountain, whether it is the compactor, the beach house rest rooms, the Marketplace, office or any other community facility. Masks must also be worn when you approach our staff, whether it is the gate checkers, the lifeguards, office personnel or anyone else working for the community. The concern about everyone’s health, welfare, and safety is not a hollow slogan – we must be respectful to each other, stay distant, and wear masks. Please help us get this accomplished.
Stay healthy, stay safe.
